I like that my music for this Album sounds nothing like my previous compositions and opens a whole way of thinking, reflecting on and composing music. I like that the music puts the listener into a very specific atmosphere. It tells a story. I also like the idea and the fact that the music I composed for this Album has a very distinctive homemade quality and it’s the result of countless hours of experimenting, exploration and reflection on the sound of the voice. I also like that although I achieved around 35 minutes of music and inside every cue I composed for the Album there are plenty of ideas, the possibilities are still endless in my mind.

My Idea for the final outcome was to compose a soundtrack that portrays the full spectrum of possibilities that I learn during the master’s degree at the ArtEZ University of the Arts. I started composing the soundtrack and soon realized that I needed a more concrete story, so I wrote a premise for a dystopian sci-fi movie that fitted the ambience and emotions I was having while composing the tracks. This helped me to imagine different aspects of the story and drama. While composing music without the visual cues is a very different task than composing music for the premise of the film this helped me envision the sonic landscape and was a big incentive to keep all the music following a clear trail and avoiding drifting off to completely different soundscapes.

Title: “Aurora’s Quest”

Premise:

In a bleak and oppressive dystopian future, society is controlled by a powerful conglomerate known as the Syndicate. Under their iron grip, the world has become a desolate wasteland, ravaged by pollution, poverty, and corruption. In the midst of this chaos, a young woman named Aurora embarks on a perilous journey to find her missing father, Dr. Marcus Grey, a renowned scientist who was abducted by the Syndicate for his revolutionary research in weaponry.

Aurora, determined and resourceful, navigates through the dangerous streets of the city, evading Syndicate patrols and scavenging for survival. Armed with only her wits and a few scraps of information about her father’s whereabouts, she delves deeper into the heart of the Syndicate’s operations, uncovering a web of lies, betrayal, and hidden agendas.

Along the way, Aurora allies herself with a ragtag group of rebels, each with their own reasons for fighting against the Syndicate’s tyranny. Together, they face relentless opposition from the Syndicate’s enforcers, cybernetically enhanced mercenaries, and deadly automated drones.

As Aurora gets closer to unravelling the truth behind her father’s disappearance, she discovers that his research holds the key to a devastating weapon that could tip the balance of power in the Syndicate’s favour. With time running out and the stakes higher than ever, Aurora must confront her own fears and doubts as she races against the clock to rescue her father and prevent the Syndicate from unleashing untold destruction upon the world.

“Aurora’s Quest” is a gripping tale of courage, resilience, and the unbreakable bond between a daughter and her father, set against the backdrop of a dark and unforgiving future where hope is a rare commodity and survival is a daily struggle.
